The knowledge, attitudes and practices, and compliance regarding the basic prerequisite programmes (PRPS) of food safety management systems of food service workers in boarding schools and restaurants in Masvingo province, Zimbabwe.
Abstract
Introduction: Poor Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) and lack of compliance with
the basic prerequisite programmes (PRPs) of food safety management systems (FSMS) is a
major challenge that affects safe food production throughout the world. The problem is more
rampant in Africa where foodborne disease outbreaks are common. In Zimbabwe the impact
of KAP and compliance on food safety management in schools and restaurants is not well
described.
