Abstract
The study evaluated selected Human Resource (HR) practices in non-governmental organisations (NGOs)/ non-profit organisations (NPOs) in Cape Town. For theoretical framework guiding the study, the Open Systems Model was implemented to analyse the environment of non-governmental organisations. The system analyses the inputs, the transformation, output and feedback of NGO operational areas. The study used an exploratory survey research design, a qualitative method and a structured questionnaire to elicit information from the respondents. There were six participants in the study. Of these, five were employees and one an employer. Two of the employees were male while three were female. The employer was female. Purposive and convenience sampling techniques were used to select research participants and conduct the survey.
