Factors associated with glycaemic control in people living with HIV and Diabetes mellitus within integrated care models in City of Cape Town primary health care facilities
Abstract
In the Eastern and Southern African regions, 16 million people living with HIV (PLHIV) are accessing treatment for HIV and are therefore linked to care. Many of these access points occur within vertical HIV care programmes. The challenge for health services at the primary level is integrating the care and treatment of conditions such as diabetes and hypertension within existing programmes to address the growing non-communicable disease epidemic in Sub–Saharan Africa.
