This thesis aimed to explore the various legislative provisions that have affected traditional health practice in South Africa. The discussion is limited to the period dating from 1891 to 2004. The relevance of this period is that during the 19th and early 20th centuries traditional healing has gone through some turmoil as the governments of that period promulgated legislation, which curtailed the practice of traditional healing. This study focused on the art of traditional healing in a legislative context.en_US
