This research is about the analyses of power, governance, social capital and social justice in food and nutrition policy processes with the aim of informing efforts to achieve the right to food and address the complex burden of malnutrition in South Africa, and to transform the food system. Too often, malnutrition and the right to food are disconnected from one another, from the food systems practices that systematically generate health risks, and from the underlying environmental and socioeconomic conditions for health - conditions that are currently undermined by food systems activities.en_US
