Job demands and resources of academic employees within higher education institutions
Abstract
Excessive job demands and inadequate employment resources can harm
employees’ well-being. Job demands and resources, therefore, became crucial to
understanding the relationships between employees and their organisations. These
variables are identified predictors of work engagement, commitment, performance,
process change, and other desirable work outcomes. A strong need exists to
understand academics’ job demands and resources because the higher education
sector experienced an array of changes over the past decade. This may aid them in
considering challenging demands while regarding ways to manage their resources
more efficiently within their institutions.
